SPRING RENEWAL – RESTORE AND REBALANCE WITH YIN YOGA AND YOGA NIDRA

Sunday 21st April / 6-8pm/ Coombes Community Centre, Royston

Join me for this two-hour special class to restore, rejuvenate and relax with a grounding practice of Yin Yoga.

As the weather becomes warmer and the days grow longer, the world around us can seem to flicker to life, but what happens if we feel depleted amidst this transition?

In the Yin Yoga tradition, Spring is associated with the Wood element, which represents growth, expansion, and flexibility. Spring time is also connected to the Liver and the Gall bladder meridians (these represent the flow of Chi, or vital energy in our bodies, similar to the flow of Prana as described in Ayurveda), which we will be exploring through floor poses, using props and a guided breathing practice.

From a physiological perspective, the Liver and Gallbladder are associated with digestion and detoxification. When we overwork or overload ourselves with constant movement or stress, TCM says the Wood element moves out of balance. This can lead to rigidity, irritability and anger arising.

By making time to slow down and move with greater purpose and intention through daily life, the Wood element can returns to balance, allowing for greater adaptability and self-growth.

Both Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine recognise Spring as a time of renewal and transformation, making it the perfect season to practice slower, gentler practices like this restorative Yin practice.

So join me to cultivate the strength to cut through the stagnation of Winter and grow in sync with the world around us!

The practise will end with a wonderful healing Yoga Nidra.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. Practised in savasana (corpse pose), this systematic meditation takes you through the Pancha Maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness.

You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated, more relaxed, clearer and ready for the week ahead and to enjoy all the beauty and aliveness Spring offers.

I hope you can join me for renewal and deep relaxation, as well as connecting with like-minded yogis.
