“Yoga nidra is the yoga of aware sleep. In this lies the secret of self-healing. Yoga nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is relaxed.” — Satyananda Saraswati

SUNDAY STILLNESS – YIN YOGA AND YOGA NIDRA SPECIAL CLASS

Who doesn’t need an evening of stillness and relaxation!?

Take time out from routine and allow yourself to slow down and tap into your inner reserves.

You’ll feel refreshed and ready for the week ahead, leaving somewhat lighter and with your energy renewed.

Join me for a special Yin yoga class on Sunday 11th June at Coombes Community Centre, with plenty of time to be and linger in the poses… for a chance to reset and recharge, find clarity and ease in mind & body.

The yin yoga is followed by a short yoga nidra practice, that will allow you to access deeper into your inner layers and become more settled physically.

What is yoga nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation, a method of Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) that allows you to scan the body and tap into a state of relaxed consciousness as the mind settles in a place between wakefulness and sleep. It is a safe and easy practice, where the practitioner can be lying down during the session.

This practice has several benefits that permeate our physical, mental, and energetic systems, including:
– counteracting the effect of stress and hyperactivity in the frontal cortex by accessing different parts of the brain that can help us regulate interoceptive awareness.
– this helps to support a harmonious, restorative state and a greater balance between the different layers of body and mind (referred to as the Koshas in Yoga Philosophy)
